Welcome to Frosted Formations!
As I've become more serious about cake decorating, I've decided to start a blog to display all my creations. I've loved making these cakes and loved the memories of the people I've shared them with!
I hope you enjoy them as much as I do.
One of my coworkers fell off a ladder last year and was seriously hurt. Fortunately, he was able to recover and returned to work. A year later, we threw him a Humpty Dumpty Day to let him know we're all happy he's healthy and alive today.
It might have been a little tasteless, but I was asked to decorate the top of an ice cream cake made by another coworker . . . and this is what I came up with.
I just got these pictures back from the Pork Party and couldn't help sharing them. It's my pig cake, post-op.

It's really sheer dumb luck that these things turn out okay and, like this one, better than intended.

This cake was by special request from a coworker. She bought a cake coupon at an auction our work had for United Way back in October. She cashed in her coupon for her husband's birthday last week. Apparently he loves all forms of the other white meat.
I couldn't help but make it as gory as possible. I made red raspberry frosting to go inside and added globs of raspberry jam everywhere to make it look all clotty . . . sorry, I secretly love being gross and this was a ton of fun.
Please note that I did this two days after sinus surgery and completed it in about 2 hours including bake time. I'm not going to lie, I'm rather impressed with myself. :)
5. Well of course . . . because I'm in love.
Here are my last two creations.

Dr. Mario Cupcakes. Yeah.

A coffin cake and the creepy undead guy coming from underneath.
This cake was for my friend Amy. We threw her an Archeology themed party. We watched Indiana Jones, got Amy a hat and whip and I made her a cake she had to dig for.

Here's a video of Amy digging.
And a couple pictures of the cake underneath.

Thanks to the Rascal Flatts, I have the perfect title for the following three cakes.
Most recently are the two 4th of July cakes I made for this weekend. This is the cake I brought to my friend's Independence Day party.

This is the Dr. Seuss-ish cake I brought to my family reunion. I was obviously getting into the explosions off the top of the cake.

This is the convertible I made for a coworker. Her daughter just had to get a responsible mom car instead of this . . . so her mom thought it would be fun to remind her of the car she couldn't get. :)
This was the first time I did poured sugar. I used it for the windshield and it seemed to turn out okay. . . maybe just a little dark on the color.
